The placement

What trainees do

  1. 1Research and compare suppliers for a buyer's request: price, minimum order, lead time and certificates.
  2. 2Learn what FOB, CIF and DDP each leave to the buyer, and help the team quote an order on those terms.
  3. 3Prepare and check the documents of a shipment: proforma invoice, packing list, bill of lading, certificate of origin.
  4. 4Estimate a landed cost (goods, freight, duty and import VAT) with the duty calculator on this site.
  5. 5Write commercial e-mails and quotations in English, reviewed by the mentor.
  6. 6Track shipments from the factory to the warehouse in Poland, and keep the buyer informed.
  7. 7Keep product data in our wholesale catalogue up to date: codes, specifications and photographs.

What they learn

Knowledge

How an import runs from the factory to the warehouse; the Incoterms 2020 rules FOB, CIF and DDP; the basics of EU customs (EORI, the customs declaration, duty and import VAT); the documents of international trade.

Skills

Comparing suppliers on more than price; reading and checking trade documents; commercial writing in English; calculating a landed cost; tracking a shipment across carriers.

Competences

Accuracy with figures and documents; working to deadlines with partners in other time zones; communication in a team that works in seven languages; responsibility for one part of a real order.

Sample project: A supplier comparison and landed-cost sheet for one product line, or a three-language glossary of trade terms (English, Turkish, Polish), presented to the team in the last week.

The route trainees learn

From a factory in China to a warehouse in Poland

Every import runs along this chain. The delivery term decides how much of it the seller carries; trainees learn to quote, document and track all three.

For sending organisations

What you get from us

We handle the host side of the paperwork on time, so your application and your participants' visas never wait on us.

  • Letter of intent

Signed and addressed to your organisation, with our OID and registry details, for your Erasmus+ application.

  • Acceptance letter

One for each participant, for visa and consulate appointments.

  • Learning Agreement

The host sections filled in and signed before departure.

  • Mid-term review

An online call with you, the trainee and the mentor halfway through.

  • Traineeship certificate

Issued within 5 weeks of the end of the placement.

  • Europass Mobility

We fill in the host organisation's part.

One contact person for everything, in English or Turkish: planning, documents, the mid-term review and anything that comes up.

In line with the Erasmus+ priorities

  • Inclusion and diversity

Guidance in Turkish and a team that works in seven languages open the placement to learners who are not yet confident in English. Needs shared in advance are planned for together.

  • Digital transformation

Trainees work in an online wholesale catalogue, a CRM and digital shipping documents, not in paper files.

  • Environment and climate

Trainees learn what an importer must do under the EU packaging rules (PPWR) and Poland's BDO waste register, and the documents stay digital.

  • Participation and common values

Daily work with buyers and suppliers from many countries is a practical lesson in how the EU single market works.

Cooperation partnerships

Writing a KA210 or KA220 project?

The organisation

Who we are

Global Trade Group sp. z o.o. is a Warsaw company that imports goods from factories in China and supplies businesses across the European Union. Our own team in China negotiates at the factory and checks quality, and the customs team of the MEYİS Group, which we belong to, clears the goods in Poland. Our wholesale catalogue covers matcha accessories, furniture, decorative films and wall panels, and the matcha range ships by courier from our stock in Poland.

That is the work a trainee joins. A placement here is not a simulation: the suppliers, the shipments and the buyers are real, and so is the mentor's feedback.

The companies of the MEYİS Group share the office at Al. Jerozolimskie 133/2. A longer placement can add a second area at one of them, such as accounting, office services, a digital agency or e-commerce, with the group's Erasmus+ coordinator as the one contact for all of it.

Erasmus+

Frequently asked questions

Can Global Trade Group be the host organisation in our Erasmus+ project?

Yes. We host VET learners on short-term mobility and ErasmusPro, and higher-education students and recent graduates on traineeships. Before you apply, we send a signed letter of intent addressed to your organisation, with our organisation ID (OID) and registry details for the partner section of your form. For each participant we issue an acceptance letter and fill in the host sections of the Learning Agreement.

Do trainees need to speak Polish?

No. The working languages are English and Turkish, and Polish is not needed. For this placement we recommend English at level B1 of the Common European Framework (CEFR). Orientation and daily guidance can be given in Turkish, so a learner who is not yet confident in English can still settle in.

Do you pay trainees or provide accommodation?

No. The Erasmus+ individual support reaches participants through their sending organisation, and Global Trade Group does not provide accommodation. We do advise on which districts of Warsaw suit trainees and how to reach the office by public transport.

How long can an Erasmus+ placement at Global Trade Group last?

From 10 days to 12 months, depending on the Erasmus+ activity: 10 to 89 days for short-term VET mobility, 90 to 365 days for ErasmusPro, 2 to 12 months for a higher-education traineeship, and 5 to 30 days on site for a blended short-term traineeship. Placements run all year; the dates are agreed with the sending organisation.

Where and when do trainees work?

In person at our office at Al. Jerozolimskie 133/2 in central Warsaw, Monday to Friday, 35 to 40 hours a week. For participants under 18, the hours stay within the legal limits for young workers.

Which insurance do participants need?

At least accident insurance and third-party liability insurance, which we expect the sending organisation to arrange. Health insurance is the responsibility of the participant or the sending organisation.

How early should we contact you?

At least 8 weeks before the planned start, and at least 12 weeks if your participants need a visa. If you are writing an Erasmus+ application, contact us before the deadline, so the signed letter of intent reaches you in time to attach it.
