80-prong chasen — purple bamboo matcha whisk

An 80-prong matcha whisk (chasen), hachijuppondate (八十本立), cut from a single piece of purple bamboo, also called shichiku — a dark bamboo whose colour runs from deep brown to almost black. Fewer prongs than the 100-prong whisk make each one a little sturdier, so the whisk keeps its shape well in everyday use.

The dark bamboo gives a sturdy everyday whisk a premium look. The same cut in white bamboo is GTG201004.

It comes in a clear plastic tube. Shipped from our warehouse in Poland by courier across Europe. Stock varies by model; where an order is larger than the stock, the quotation states the date.
