Matcha sets wholesale here means four ceramic designs from our own brand ZOI — Zen, Takumi, Sakura and Kai — sold to tea shops, gift shops, concept stores, online stores and buyers of corporate gifts. Each four-piece set holds everything needed to prepare matcha except the tea: a bowl, a bamboo whisk, a whisk holder and a bamboo scoop.
A chawan is the bowl in which matcha is whisked and from which it is drunk; it is wide and flat-bottomed so the whisk can move. A chasen is the bamboo whisk, a chashaku is the bamboo scoop, and a kusenaoshi is the ceramic holder on which the whisk dries.
What is in each set
Every four-piece set carries the same four tools, and what changes is the bowl: its colour, its glaze and, on Sakura and Kai, a pouring spout. Sakura and Kai also come as a bowl and holder alone, for customers who already own the bamboo tools.

The sets also come bundled with matcha, ceremonial or culinary depending on the design, for a gift box that needs nothing added. The tea itself is in matcha tea, and the whisk and scoop sold on their own are in matcha tools.
Spouted bowl or classic chawan
A spouted matcha bowl, called katakuchi in Japanese, has a pouring lip on one side. Matcha is whisked in it as in any chawan and then poured into a glass, which suits customers who drink matcha lattes. A classic chawan has no spout and suits matcha drunk straight from the bowl.
The Sakura and Kai sets come with a spouted bowl. The Zen set has a classic chawan with a wide base, the shape a traditional bowl of matcha is whisked in.

Hand-glazed: why no two bowls match
A hand-glazed bowl has its glaze applied by hand before firing, so the colour gathers and thins differently on every piece. The Takumi, Sakura and Kai bowls are glazed this way. For a shop, that is worth saying on the shelf card: the customer is buying a bowl that exists once, not a print run.
Who buys matcha sets, and when
Matcha sets sell as gifts and as starter kits, to someone who has tried matcha in a café and wants to make it at home. That makes tea shops, gift shops, concept stores, online stores and corporate-gift buyers the natural outlets. For a Christmas range, order early: stock in Poland varies by design, and a quotation for a larger run states the date.
Care instructions to pass on to your customers
A bamboo whisk lasts much longer when it is looked after, and the care takes a minute. Before whisking, soak the tines in lukewarm water for about a minute so they soften and do not break. Whisk in a quick M or W motion with the wrist low over the bowl, because a circular motion presses the tines against the wall and wears them out.
After use, rinse the whisk in warm water only, with no detergent, no sponge and no dishwasher, and stand it on the holder to dry. Never leave a wet whisk in a closed box: damp bamboo grows mould.
